   upon writing

she sews
at a sewing machine
everyday of her life
there is a shoe repair place in the back
a friend
she was good to folks I know
 helping them

and I in my walmart black overalls
& flipflops
hair awry
wonder about jewels such as she sometime{s}
I try and place my energy among
the living when I can
I saw an old open Bible lying there on a bench or table
it caught my eye

I pray
sometimes amidst muscadines
& that's just fine with me
